After last year’s archery season came to a halt due to COVID-19 travel restrictions and tournament cancellations, Hocking College’s archery team began its 2021-2022 school year with renewed energy and refurbished bows.
First-year coach Erick Smith noted that the majority of his team were first-year students, and made a point not to place too much pressure upon the team for their first competition. He said that they all agreed “to focus on having fun and learning from the experience”. After the competition, he said: “I was encouraged to see a pattern of improvement throughout the two-day tournament culminating with a first-place finish in the women’s 3-member team barebow competition on Sunday”.
During that tournament, the team won several individual medals as well, including a first-place finish in Men’s Barebow, and a second-place & third-place in Women’s Barebow competitions.
