Hocking College Drops OT Thriller at Lakeland CC

The Hocking College women's basketball team lost a disappointing game at Lakeland Community College 75-68 to drop to 3-2, and 0-1 in OCCAC play. "I loved our effort and the tenacity we played with. I truly think we are close to becoming a very good team, but we did not close that game out with the type of poise you must have" stated Coach Andrew Brown.

Lilly Weaver led the Hawks with a strong all-around outing, posting 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Her defensive pressure and shot making helped fuel multiple Hocking runs. Carmyn Woods added an efficient 12 points along with 3 rebounds and an assist, while point guard Gianna Boyce contributed 7 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, and a block, helping the offense stay composed against Lakeland's defensive pressure.

The biggest highlight of the night came from Hawa Ba, who delivered a dominant defensive effort with 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 blocks. With her six rejections, Ba became Hocking College's all-time career blocks leader with 55, etching her name into program history.

In the paint, Tori Rose controlled the glass from start to finish, recording a commanding 14 rebounds to go with 9 points, 2 steals, and a block, giving Hocking a consistent interior presence. Hazely Wagner added 3 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal, contributing steady play on both ends.

Hocking also received valuable bench production throughout the night. Aubriona Benjamin provided toughness inside with 4 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Aliyah Brock added 3 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Aubree Carroll came up big with 8 points, along with a rebound and an assist, giving the Hawks a boost during crucial stretches.

Hocking fought back late in the fourth quarter to force overtime, showcasing the resilience and composure that have become hallmarks of its play this season. In the extra period, however, Lakeland capitalized on a few key possessions to create separation and seal the win. "We still have a lot of work to do on the defensive end of the floor to be the team we ultimately strive to be. I am confident we will get there because of the work and energy we put into it" remarked Coach Brown

Final Score: Lakeland Community College 75, Hocking College 68 (OT)
