The Hocking College women's basketball team delivered a statement win on Saturday night, edging previously unbeaten conference opponent Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) 61–60 in a dramatic overtime battle.

Starting five Lilly Weaver, Gianna Boyce, Carmyn Woods, Hawa Ba, and Hazely Wagner set the tone early as Hocking matched Tri-C's physicality and pace throughout regulation. Neither team was able to pull away, forcing overtime in a contest defined by defense, rebounding, and clutch plays.

The decisive moment came in the final seconds of overtime. With just five seconds remaining, Hazely Wagner came up with a crucial steal and was fouled immediately after. Wagner calmly stepped to the free-throw line and knocked down one of two attempts, giving Hocking the 61–60 lead. The Hawks then locked in defensively to secure the upset victory.

Carmyn Woods led all scorers with 18 points while adding nine rebounds, two assists, and three blocks. Lilly Weaver recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds to go along with four assists and three steals. Wagner filled the stat sheet with five points, nine rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a block, including the game-winning free throw.

Hawa Ba was dominant on the defensive end, finishing with 12 rebounds and five blocks. Those five rejections were historic, as Ba set a new Hocking College single-season blocks record with 42, surpassing the previous mark of 40—also set by Ba last season.

Tori Rose contributed six points and six rebounds off the bench, while Aubriona Benjamin added six points and a steal. Gianna Boyce chipped in five points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Additional contributions came from Arianna Fee, Aubree Carroll, and Aliyah Brock as Hocking relied on a full team effort to hand Tri-C its first conference loss of the season.

Hocking College will look to carry the momentum forward when it returns home on Monday, January 12, 2026, to face Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC).
