Hawks Power Past Commodores in OCCAC action

The Hocking College Women's Basketball team delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday night, rolling to an 80–49 victory over Lorain County behind a balanced offensive attack and stifling defense. The win moves Hocking to 12-4 and 4-2 in conference play.

The Lady Hawks set the tone early and never looked back, controlling the tempo on both ends of the floor. Hocking's defensive pressure forced turnovers throughout the game, leading to transition opportunities and consistent scoring runs.

Carmyn Woods led the way with a standout all-around performance, posting a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Woods also contributed defensively with two steals and a block, anchoring the Hawks on both ends of the court.

Hazely Wagner provided a spark on the perimeter, finishing with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists, and a team-high five steals. Aubree Carroll added solid production off the bench with 10 points, seven rebounds, and two steals, while Hawa Ba controlled the paint with eight points, nine rebounds, and four blocks.

The starters played a key role in the win. Lilly Weaver stuffed the stat sheet with four points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals, while Gianna Boyce added six points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Wagner, Woods, and Ba rounded out the starting lineup alongside Weaver and Boyce.

Hocking also received contributions from across the roster. Aubriona Benjamin chipped in six points, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Arianna Fee scored five points. Ashaya Smith added three points, and Alexus Miller scored two points with a rebound. Emani Tynes made her presence felt defensively with two rebounds and a steal.

"I thought our team played hard. We got off to a slow start and fouled too much early in the game. I am pleased with how we got the ball inside to our forwards and established Carmyn, Hawa, and Aubree. Our guards played unselfishly and allowed them to get established".

With the convincing win, the Lady Hawks will look to carry their momentum on the road. Hocking returns to action on January 17, 2026, when they travel to face Tri-C in their next matchup.
